Läjet - A true gem

Läjesviken is a popular destination for kitesurfing and surfing, attracting a new generation of visitors to the area. You can also reach Läjet by bike via the Kattegattleden – the scenic coastal cycling route known for its spectacular views and unforgettable experiences.
Home to two of the West Coast’s finest beaches!
Just a 1 km walk from the campsite lies Läjesviken, home to a beautiful sandy beach. Stretching approximately 300 metres, the beach is shallow and family-friendly, making it ideal for children. One of the piers features a swimming jetty, and the area offers modern restroom facilities, ample parking, a kiosk, and a small play area. A little further away you’ll find Kagebäcksviken, another child-friendly beach with shallow waters, soft sand, and scenic dunes. Surrounded by coastal woodland, it provides a peaceful natural setting and well-maintained restroom facilities. Both beaches are officially designated EU bathing beaches.

Surfing
Varberg is widely known as Sweden’s surfing capital. Surf culture thrives here, attracting surfers from all over the country and beyond each year. The beaches of Apelviken and Läjet are among the most popular surfing destinations on Sweden’s west coast, and it was here that windsurfing first gained a foothold and began to develop in Sweden. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, you’ll find conditions to suit every level and more wind directions than you might imagine. Läjet is considered one of Sweden’s premier spots for kitesurfing, surfing, and windsurfing.
Fishing for everyone
Sea fishing is free of charge, while fishing in other waters may require a fishing permit. The local pier is said to be a great spot for a catch! From the pier and harbour in Träslövsläge, you can reel in a variety of flatfish species, including flounder, dab, and plaice – and if you’re lucky, even a turbot. If the fish aren’t biting, you can always enjoy the local catch by purchasing freshly landed fish, shrimp, and langoustines from the fish shop or the local fish truck. And if you’re looking for langoustines, ask for “lajrhommer” – that’s what they’re called in the local dialect! Crab fishing is a must when visiting Varberg, and a great tip is to use mussels as bait.
